I grew up in church and I never "felt" anything during that time. I feel like my closest experience to what religions describe as God came from psychedelic experiences. Its actually what made me open to it again. I think maybe it just strips off your intellectual/ego filters which otherwise act as kind of an immune system to feelings of spirituality (once you are older and entrenched in a belief system).
Its still difficult for me, but having had that "zero to one" moment where I actually experienced a spiritual feeling viscerally (rather than just being told that it exists) made me feel like I can develop it. I really couldn't even conceptualize it before...I just thought religious people were kind of nuts/brainwashed.
If that's off the table for you, reflection and spending time in nature with no distractions may be helpful too.
