And as a recap for those of you new to Cinnabar Moth News, Ōtautahi-Christchurch City, NZ, has surprisingly been reporting a scattering of these ragwort biocontrol agents feeding on other related plants. There's (almost) no ragwort at all in the city, yet the caterpillars are here and have been feeding surprisingly well on Senecio species, native and introduced. It's still a mystery where they've all come from and why this is happening now when it's not happened before, for at least 20 years.
