Hands on Swale Workshop!
What is it: This will be my first in person swale workshop. It will be a combination on location teaching as well as hands-on designing and installing a mini swale system for an orchard. We will also plant out the new swale with understory and herbaceous layers. The site has an existing orchard swale and there will be a lot of hands-on and real world demonstration of concepts. Topics covered will include but are not limited to: Why and why not to use a swale, what is contour and how to find it, how to design and install properly, plant types and structure to use, additional water management techniques, establishing and improving soil with cover cropping, Transplanting berries to the swale system, tours of additional permaculture system that are on site, and much more. You will also have the chance to get to know other like minded people who know how to get things done!
Where: A regenerative property in Hartsville TN (exact address will be email to confirmed attendees)
When: Saturday Nov 23rd 10am-4pm
Cost: $20 on site (I am keeping the cost very low because this is a first workshop and may not be as polished as future workshops which will cost more)
Accommodations: There will be a bathroom on site (quite a ways from the work site), but otherwise, very few accommodations. All activities will be held in an open pasture, food and seating and warm clothing will be BYO. (we will likely do several more of the same workshop in the spring with additional accommodations, however the price will be increased and the group will be larger)
