Bitcoin doesn’t need governments, but bitcoiners can certainly be impacted by governments. If it gets bad enough, people have to move or engage with the black market. It can affect the timeline of adoption and have material negative effects.
I am not saying to defer to people who are way too focused on CO2. But it is good to point out to people why bitcoin is important, why demand response is useful for the grid, how small bitcoin’s footprint is compared to other important things, etc.
Because a lot of normal people genuinely don’t know. They think bitcoin is a gambling thing that hurts the environment. Even Bill Maher hates it and doesn’t get it.
There is still a lot of low-hanging fruit to help them see what it is.
