This was around 16 years ago. I was so excited about it, I wanted to ride it to my girlfriend's (now wife) house. One exit from the highway has a turn that tightened up much quicker than I anticipated. Laid the bike down at about 40mph and was fortunate enough to just slide and tumble a bit. I did catch a glimpse of the bike doing aerial flips, which was most upsetting. So the bike was totalled.
Thanks to wearing proper gear, I only ended up with some road rash on my back, stitches in my knee, and a broken pinky finger. The cast they put on my pinky poked into soft tissue and became very painful after a couple days, so I cut it off and used a plastic butter knife and medical tape for stabilizing it for a few weeks.
