As an autistic person, I tend to skip small talk and get straight to the point because I see it as being considerate. I spent my childhood being told I talk too much, so I’ve made an effort to get to the point quickly as a result. Apparently, this annoys neurotypical people, who prefer spending 5–10 minutes talking about bullshit before actually addressing the core of why I've reached out to them—which, honestly, feels like a waste of time for both of us 🙃
