Ok, I consider the anti-farming policy proposals to be downright nutty, but this sort of thing irritates me.
realisation that it is impossible to live in any degree of comfort and security without hydrocarbons
Based on everything I know about the earth, at some point humanity will have to live without hydrocarbons. Either completely, or without significant continuous consumption of them.
Hydrocarbons are not a replenishing resource, they will either run out, or become prohibitively expensive and difficult to procure.
I have no problem with people pointing out the pitfalls involved in the planned net zero policies, but I would very much like it if it didn't have to end up at the complete opposite end of the spectrum either. I'm frankly tired of all the all-or-nothing thinking going around.
And while I'm at it, solar and wind power aren't inherently "unreliable". The problems associated with them when it comes to energy availability are problems of storage, not of production. Not to mention they are not the only renewable options out there.
