If necessary, yes, and this cannot be called "restriction of freedom".
This is a stupid argument because it presumes that Bitcoin software is perfect and has no weaknesses that can be exploited.
Bitcoin is not perfect and (to me) its main purpose should be sound money.
If other purposes are crowding out or hindering its ability to function as a currency, that needs to be fixed.
To me the possibility of having a free currency is far above creating a database of jpgs and farts for the sole purpose of profit.
