Fun fact: in the UK it's enshrined in law that the copyright for Peter Pan will never expire. This is because the rights to the character and works were donated to the Great Ormond Street children's hospital in JM Barrie's will, and it's such an important source of income for the hospital that it was made permanent.
Almost every American film production of Peter Pan tries to avoid having to pay the hospital. The biggest exception is Hook, which actively used the hospital as a setting.
