The EU will become more important then ever. Because Trump can't be and doesn't want to be an alternative to what the current EU offers to it's member states, it's flawed, needs improvement, but it's the only and best thing all those tiny nation states in Europe have.
Trump can only be influenced by power. The EU potentially has that, individual member states surely not. Also the UK will slowly return to the EU in the coming decades.
