The version of reality they live in doesn't include that dimension of understanding. They might as well live in a world where you don't exist, but some of them randomly die of "trap disease" or whatever. If, on the other hand, they could interpret it but didn't have the evidence to interpret, that would be a very different scenario. Then they could gather evidence and make inferences, and it would be relevant. Relevance is a matter of perspective, in other words. You can see the relevance, because of your perspective, but they cannot. For them, the why of it doesn't matter because that will never enter their understanding.
