Realistically, how expensive and insurmountable would it be to start your own line of laptop? With a basic chassis, good connectivity, and sort of made to facilitate users providing their own RAM, SSD, network cards, etc..? Ultimately, a laptop is just a motherboard with a chassis built around it. Everything else could be already commercially available. You could design a chassis to accept all the aftermarket Thinkpad keyboards + touchpad + palm-rest combination kitd on Alibaba and stuff. Standard display size, people could source their own displays. You're really just providing the motherboard + CPU and the general chassis design at that point.
