i have not read the book or seen the movie and am jumping on a bandwagon.

my assumption is LRRR is referring to the theatrical cut which appears to have a particular rep.

Fun Fact: The thumbs down reputation of “Battlefield Earth” is based on the theatrical cut. After the tidal wave of bad reviews the producers apparently cut out the truly egregious stuff before it hit home video. So if you ever watch this and think, ‘Eh, whatever,’ it’s because the version most of us have actually seen was improved some after the initial release. There was an article about this in the L.A. Times back in 2000.
