From the enlisted memoirs I have read it would seem that only Cpts and Lts are really on the footslogger radar. Any greater responsibility is likely out of their awareness or fatalistically accepted; company and platoon commanders are the ones who coordinate and hold up their little patch of hell and so it's them that'll inspire, or break, the moral of a rifleman.
