Proper execution of blind tests is really hard to find, not just double-blind tests, even single-blind studies are hard to execute properly to remove/minimize foreign confounding factors and biases.

If there studies for this specific context, maybe monitor companies would be the ones involved. But I tend to believe, some technologies tend to be introduced more because of marketing reasons, to differenciate your product offering and what not, yet not so much based on truly solid research and advantages/benefits.
