what this effectively means is that the same big corpos everyone wanted to get away from by using fedi will be able to not just scrape or interact with the content here (which, as we can tell from threads etc is a thing they clearly want to do), but will also be able to influence the fediverse itself and all software built on it via influencing the underlying protocol (activitypub)

this is part of a strategy called embrace, extend, extinguish (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend,_and_extinguish) that corpos use to overwhelm and ultimately destroy an open ecosystem
