Starting to get annoyed with GNOME being sluggish again, wonder if it's time for a new WM

I wish I better understood what the pathologies were. GNOME is great in a fresh install but it seems to accumulate hitches rapidly, and I would probably be happier if I knew how to flush out the cobwebs every so often
