you have an absolute right to silence upon arrest, and need say nothing at all to the arresting officers.
at jail intake, you will be required to provide identifying information; you will not be leaving the intake room until you provide this information and you actually do have to provide it, so fill out your name and whatever. you may catch fresh charges if you refuse to cooperate on intake.
say *nothing* else. if asked what you did, why you did it, what your favorite cartoon show is, *zip it* and wait for your lawyer. if you have one on retainer, call them asap. if you don't have a lawyer and you're broke, demand a public representative and wait for them; they'll be assigned and contact you within your first week of lock-up probably
