I take this approach a lot (unfortunately,) though that changes if/when I feel that simply stepping back would or does lead to other people continuing to be hurt by the situation.

I'm kind of in the middle of a situation like that with a Discord I'm on, where trolls/toxic members get protected while anyone who tries to call them on their behavior gets reprimanded.

It's... not going well, so yeah. I'll likely be doing the "just drift away and let go of the stress" deal soon enough.
