Am I "learning the terminal", or I'm just "learning the vagaries of _this_ terminal"?

I feel as though both want to nudge me towards that state of "don't change anything, I've got it set up how I want", but one is a state of chosen personalization, and one is a position of disempowerment. It's a difficult thing to even recognize is a thing.
