Cashu mints don’t support Lightning addresses natively. But you can use a personal Lightning address with any Cashu mint.
Why? Ecash is accountless — the mint doesn’t track users. Anyone can run an LNURL server that receives Lightning payments to a Cashu mint on your behalf.
This setup adds a new trust vector: the LNURL server. It can be self-hosted or delegated, but it becomes a necessary intermediary under the current LNURL spec.
In theory, LNURL could integrate core Cashu cryptography to mint ecash spendable only by the recipient’s pubkey. This would reduce trust in the LNURL server itself, making it a minimal forwarding layer rather than an intermediary custodian.
