"The other guy named Jack" is Jack Dorsey, co-founder and CEO of Twitter.
I tried SimpleX with another person using Android. This other person uninstalled it because it drained the battery life and memory needed of the phone. Other than that, i find it extremely nice.
Signal is another option imo.
