You know, back in the day, you used to have to come home to shackle yourself metaphorically to the computer to see the shadows of the internet cast into your eyes. At least for a time every day, you were let out to experience the real world. Now, though having been freed of the physical need to be more or less tethered to a computer monitor, we are no more outside the cave than we were before. We carry our chains with us, and the dancing shadows, now in our pockets, color our perception of everything else in the world. This opinion is not novel, but it is something that I think about every now and then, despite my hypocrisy of also enjoying the shadows.
