Extreme weather is getting worse—and thanks to attribution science, we can now measure exactly how much more likely and severe climate change is making it. One of the pioneers of this cutting-edge field is Dr. Friederike Otto, who leads the ground-breaking organization, World Weather Attribution.

This week, I’m delighted to welcome Fredi as the guest editor of my newsletter. She shares what attribution science can tell us about our changing climate, how some so-called "solutions" like geoengineering could do more harm than good, and why imagining a better future is one of the most important things we can do.

As Fredi reminds us, climate change is profoundly unfair. Her research shows how many of its impacts hit hardest in places like Malawi and Eritrea—countries that have contributed the least to the problem. That’s why I’m so excited to read her new book, Climate Injustice: Why We Need to Fight Global Inequality to Combat Climate Change (order here! https://greystonebooks.com/products/climate-injustice?srsltid=AfmBOoqWHtibs3NznsUmOqp24x1Pv2P2b_cpdX-vdt-d8YmOph2nMR6M)

As always, please use what you read here to start a conversation this week! https://www.talkingclimate.ca/p/we-still-have-time-to-act
