Then set up hydrogen stations and distribute the hydrogen. That is way more expensive to set up than EV chargers. Truck distribution of the hydrogen is more expensive, dangerous, and wasteful than electricity via powerlines.

After all that loss, EVs are just way more efficient.

A good work around may be hydrogen plug in hybrids, hydrogen for long trips.
