What keeps you locked into your OS? It's the momentum of the system. It's not that it's any good. It's literally what are you going to miss if you leave. Linux didn't solve the problem either.
In order to solve the problem once and for all you HAVE to start at the hardware. If you can't do that, it doesn't matter what software you use. Linux isn't going to protect against a UEFI attack or a power system side channel.
Own your platform else it's just ashes in the flame.
Barring the platform issue, I'm curious as to what you would rather use for an 'operating system' and why? Is it because it's "free" or lack of options, work, or a real personal preference. No judgement.
