thank you. i've kind of realised that it's in part to do with how i'm feeling about the human world ... so many of the trappings of the holidays have human all over them, and it just feels like none of it applies any more. it's just ... nature. so i'm thinking what i can do to celebrate nature without all of the rest (and without spending money we don't have to buy more stuff!).
as for the kitten thing: since we got miss pia (who is still into everything even though she's 3+), our little trees go on a shelf that husband made as a sort of swing. it hangs from the ceiling (or rather, from 4 screws in the ceiling beams and some jute) and is nicely out of their reach but still at a good seeing height. i'm not sure we'll do it this year: just thinking of hanging a branch? but it's an idea, if you get really desperate!
