The House of Lords still doesn't understand how national debt works.

But I'd pick up one additional point. The Lords are still wedded to the idea of the "Dependency Ratio" between workers and pensioners. As we pointed out in our book (https://commonweal.scot/shop/publications/all-of-our-futures-scotlands-ageing-population-and-what-to-do-about-it-in-2021-2045/) this is both completely untrue and corrosively dangerous. Workers are not, need not and should not be solely responsible for "paying for" pensioners.
