so I’m fascinated by #TrenMaya because my partner and I covered pretty much its exact route by bus in 2019. context I don’t see mentioned in stories about it is the sheer scale of industrial tourism Mexico invited in to the “mayan riviera” over the last several decades. it was overwhelming to move through and beyond the main tourism corridor, which seemed to me to be eating up more land and communities with freeways and condos every year
