If you really want religion to influence ethics, then I have good news for you. Western society has the ethical foundation of Christian ethics, for the most part. One can be ethically indistinguishable from a moderate Christian without necessarily being religious themselves. Being areligious doesn't require one to rebuke all of those ethics.
