I’ve been considering those exceptionally wealthy people who in spite of clearly possessing wealth in excess of their ability to spend it, actively seek to accumulate more. I’m convinced that what they truly desire is worship not the wealth they endeavor to possess. Enter the cult of Bezos. Acolytes can gain entry through a prolonged period of suffering in abject poverty and once accepted sing his praises in his presence until exhaustion causes them to collapse. What?
