Yes, I read a lot of this as personal embarrassment too, particularly from the people who made being a Biden fan their whole identity and previously shouted down any critiques. But, also, a lot of this is being driven by pundits who aren't actually in touch with normal people (Twitter people are not the norm!). I found this insight into how some never Trump conservative rural voters reacted interesting.
