Sorry, but I don’t like the clearinghouse idea even in the fiat world. The Bank of England’s servers go down and all mayhem breaks loose. What has a system with that type of design got to do with the title of #Satoshi ‘s whitepaper? The real elephant in the room seems to me to be unpalatable trade-offs being made, here’s a good summary of one of them. Obviously, this sort of talk boils the blood of the #Bitcoin only crowd, but so it goes!
