---Reports---
-International Events-
1. Israel pounds Syrian army bases, denies deeper incursion: Israel pounded Syrian army bases on Tuesday in strikes it says aim to keep weapons from falling into hostile hands, but denied its forces had advanced into Syria beyond a buffer zone at the border. Since Assad's flight on Sunday ended more than five decades of his family's rule, Israeli troops moved into a demilitarized zone inside Syria established following a 1973 war. Israel calls the incursion a temporary measure to ensure border security. The rough tally of 200 raids overnight had left nothing of the Syrian army's assets, said the sources. (Reuters)

2. Taiwan Says China Carrying Out Huge Maritime Drills: Taiwan said Tuesday that dozens of Chinese warships and other vessels have been deployed around the island, in one of China's biggest-ever military exercises. "Nearly 90" Chinese naval and coast guard ships were currently in waters along the so-called first island chain, which links Okinawa, Taiwan and the Philippines. Taiwan's defence ministry said earlier it had also detected 47 Chinese aircraft near the island in the 24 hours to 6:00 am. "It can indeed be said that the scale of these maritime forces exceeds the four drills since 2022," Sun told reporters. (IBTimes) (AC-If ever there was a good time for a blitzkrieg attack on Taiwan, now would be it.)

3. Moscow reaches out to new Syrian leadership in move to secure bases: Moscow is seeking to secure the future of its key military bases in Syria while making inroads with the country’s new rebel leadership, after the dramatic collapse of the Assad regime threatened to erode Russia’s influence in the Middle East. Russia has kept a sizeable airbase in north-west Syria and a naval facility at the Mediterranean port of Tartus since Moscow’s military intervention helped President Bashar al-Assad reclaim most of the country after nationwide protests that began in 2011. 1. Suspect Charged with UnitedHealthcare CEO’s Murder: Luigi Mangione was charged in New York on suspicion of one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon. According to a New York Times report citing friends of Mangione, the suspect lived with serious back pain and underwent surgery for the condition last year. (Breitbart)

2. Daniel Penny Found Not Guilty, Gets Death Threat From BLM Founder: Daniel Penny has been cleared of wrongdoing in the chokehold death of a mentally unstable man, Jordan Neely, after jurors sided with Penny's defense attorneys who had argued that the Marine veteran was justified in rushing to protect fellow subway riders in May of 2023. He received an immediate death threat from BLM founder 'Hawk' Newsome, and Jordan Neely’s father is calling for violent protests after a jury, made up of different races, found Daniel Penny not guilty. Nevada Adopts Blockchain for Secure Election Certification: The state of Nevada has taken a significant step toward bolstering election security by incorporating blockchain technology into its election certification process. The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office recently announced this initiative, which is aimed at enhancing transparency, preventing fraud, and ensuring the integrity of the state’s election procedures. Through blockchain integration, Nevada is setting an example for other states looking to adopt emerging technologies to improve election security. The technology’s ability to protect critical documents from unauthorized changes is expected to instill greater trust among voters, stakeholders, and officials. (CoinTrust) (AC- Simple Proof? Maybe. There are other reports that the incoming Trump administration and DOGE are looking at instituting the same system. Bitcoin Veterans MAY have had a small part in this...)

(BitcoinCom) (AC-This strategy will have outsized effects on the global financial system, putting any first mover in a very powerful position by diluting the value of gold and buying a huge stake in Bitcoin as other nation-states rush to keep from cratering their currency.)

1. Google’s Willow quantum chip brings Bitcoin security debate 10 years closer: On Dec. 9, Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, introduced the Willow chip as a breakthrough in quantum computing. It boasts error reduction capabilities and 105 qubits, a new computational power milestone. This advancement highlights quantum computing’s potential to revolutionize fields dependent on complex calculations. However, it also raises concerns about the security of encryption systems, passwords, and other cryptographic protections. “With one breakthrough we’ve seen a 20 year drop in how long Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have to start taking post-quantum encryption seriously. (CryptoSlate) (AC-With SHA-256 encryption, Bitcoin still has a long way to go before being vulnerable, well after other forms of encryption data are vulnerable such as traditional finance.)
