Unpopular opinion reply: It the good ole days, Bitcoin was used as Satoshi intended - on-chain and non-custodial just like cash with the upside of being able to be spent across borders without authority and with amazing speed (compared to legacy money). Now it is as you say, "not for spending". A recent gift card purchase took 12 hours to complete with a TX fee of $14.00 USD. Now I flip BTC to alts to fill my spending wallet and can get gift cards within 3 minutes, sometimes even just before I'm at the checkout. 100% non-custodial - 100% non-kyc - 100% on-chain. No need to deal with lightnings complexities like locking up funds and creating channels, centralization of dominating big nodes, limited liquidity in channels, 98% custodial, and payment issues if a party goes offline. Like I said, unpopular opinion reply.
