The mempool is like a waiting room for Bitcoin transactions. When you send BTC, your transaction doesn't immediately go on the blockchain. Instead:
1. It enters the mempool
2. Miners select transactions from the mempool
3. Selected transactions get included in the next block
Higher fees = higher priority in the mempool.
