It's so exhilarating to see how far we are into the "then they fight you" stage. Although the idea of the US becoming openly hostile is a stressful concept....I am a bit relieved at the thought that:
1. Most countries outside of the G7/NATO would benefit if the US's dominance of the global financial system was eroded (which would incentivize them not to cooperate in censorship). Many in the G7 would probably like to see the US lose that power as well.
2. Every country that issues a fiat currency has a potential selfish incentive to block their own populace from using bitcoin....however they don't need to attack the network itself to do that.
So considering a country can choose to block capital flight in their OWN country without attacking the bitcoin network, and NOT cooperating with the attack erodes the US's financial power over the world which they benefit from.....I feel like the US would be likely to lose this battle since they are really the only people who would benefit from attempting the attack.
I mean I can easily see a scenario where Russia and China rev up bitcoin mining to 11 even while disallowing their own populations from using it just to watch the US lose power over sanctions. Thoughts?
