okay what weirdness did i stumble over this time??? i installed a fresh gentoo and created a user and now i… can’t log in as the user??? i can log in as root. i change the password of the user. i su - into my user. that works fine. i do passwd again. the password i set as root is clearly correct because it accepts it and lets me set a new one. but whatever the fuck i do, when i try to log in as this user on the tty i get login incorrect. what in the fucking hell did i do now
