Device verification doesn't "stick" with Element X. You have to do the emoji instead of scan, but then when you verify, Element X still complains about not being verified. This also means you can't then use it to verify other sessions.
I can imagine that people who installed Element X as their initial gateway to Matrix would be quite underwhelmed by the experience.
