This small purse-shaped reliquary (Ht 6.4 cm) from the church of Ennabeuren, dating 7th century AD, comprises a limewood box adorned with gold-plated copper sheets, which are embellished with stamped images and motifs.
It was found beneath the altar of the church.
A relic could be a physical remnant of a saint or an object connected with the saint. Through relics, people could feel close to a saint who was not only with them but also in the presence of God. 🧵 1/2
