In linguistics this is called "mutual intelligibility". There are studies with percentages, but as far as I know, they're a bit messy, as the context is very important.

For example written can be easier than spoken, or it can be the other way around. For example Hindi and Urdu use a different writing system, but they are virtually the same language. But a Spanish person will understand French better when it's written.

It can also be asymmetrical: Norwegians are better at understanding Swedish than vice versa, because of television habits and history.
