Yeah, there was a kind of a shift, and we've never really addressed it at all. Someone asked Obama early in his first term if he was considering going after Bush administration people for their obvious war crimes and human rights violations. He smiled and said no, "we have to look forward, not backward." And that was that. We all carried on like nothing had happened.
We'd be in a very different place today were it not for 9/11 and, more so, the stage managed, nationwide murder frenzy that followed. So much potential was destroyed and so much destruction was produced in a relatively short period. We could've mitigated some of the harm if we'd just been able to address it honestly, but we seem to just be incapable of that.
