Farmed wood is grown for lumber with the same kind of manipulation we have in vegetables. GMO woods, accelerated growth, etc.
As a handyman, when I go to a new apartment building or new house and install something into the studs, I can feel the difference. New wood is almost like butter compared to good old growth wood construction. It's not as strong by a long shot.
