A scary proportion of our national health spending (sorry but I don't have the figure to hand; I think it's around 60%) is as a result of the food we eat - heart disease, diabetes, obesity, some cancers. And that's why this isn't a left-vs-right issue.
I'm one of those annoying save-the-Madagascan-maggot type Lefties, so of course I'm on board. But if you're a hard-nosed rightwinger then you probably care about cutting the NHS's expenses.
We're all on the same side.
