People could accidentally delete. People could be hacked and have the hacker delete. The platform's own bugs could mistakenly delete. Ideally it is all a transaction log that could be rolled back.
Perhaps there could be legal requirements for "delete really" but we wouldn't want it to be too immediate for reasons above.
