My only 14th Amendment take is, the US made a historic error in the 1860s when it didn't denaturalize everyone who served in the Confederate forces or paid someone else to serve in their stead, which would have given the South a black-majority electorate. This tool was available then, but they didn't use it and the Lost Cause took root and Confederate veterans became respected members of society instead of hated dregs while the Union men were sidelined and the freedmen terrorized.
