A few days ago there was a suspicion that Lopa may be pregnant. I wasn't hopeful as this is an annual thing with her, but today (after a 24 hour absence) she showed, very hungry, quite tatty and clearly showing early signs of lactating. So in all probability she has had a small litter in the 24-36 hours. This scenario has played out the same way for the past 3 years (she's 4 now) and we have never seen any of her cubs, which is very unusual for vixens who are confident in our garden. Our guess is that in previous years none have survived. If she does have cubs who survive then the signs of lactation should become much more obvious over the next few weeks. I'll definitely be watching out for her! Anyway, here's today's photo. http://www.permuted.org.uk/photography/fox-of-the-day/ #fox #nature #wildlife #photography
