Oh, let’s see, for starters…
That things about past, previous eras being better. We weren’t there. I doubt medieval times were better. Maybe they lamented the good old days of the Roman Empire. Depends who you are and where you were. A lot of people were here in America during the 1950’s. Before me but what I think was good was Rock’n’Roll and cars. If you weren’t white, probably wasn’t so great. The point being things are going to go where they go. Nothing was necessarily better in the past, a lot of things worse. One thing I agree with is humans will adapt.
And the thing about being made to feel guilty about being European, yeah all sides go sideways. The lefty woke liberal dems got ridiculous, lost touch and are hypocritical, alienated people. Yes Europeans did a lot of awful things, so did every culture…don’t feel guilty, you (or the author) didn’t do it. But you can still acknowledge what happened, it doesn’t need to be erased from history. It can be made better. And the nobles and aristocracy? Guess there’s nothing wrong with them if they didn’t cause mass suffering and misery for their own gain. Check your family tree, maybe there is something wrong with them. Whatever you think about European colonization, doesn’t matter, it happened (could have happened a lot differently, I guess in an alternate universe maybe it did) but it’s dumb and naive to think there wouldn’t be consequences one or two centuries later, we’re seeing it and gonna keep seeing it.
And speaking of the bs from the left, doesn’t mean the bs from the right is any better. I don’t get how people fall for Trump’s crap (and most of the right, especially the religious right), he doesn’t give a damn. And in the real world dumb young bros taking Trump’s lead talking crap in schools threatening young women is disgusting. I have a daughter and not gonna stand for that.
Speaking of bros, the whole men have lost their virility thing…look I eat meat and workout some, that’s my choice. Not all men have to be steroid musclehead Rambos (which I am certainly not). There is not a monolithic model for being a man, and it’s not just physical. I don’t care what a doctor or accountant or Uber driver can bench, I just want them to be good at what they do. There have always been high and low testosterone men, just need to have the right person in the right job.
Sure we got problems, and we’ll see more that have never been seen before. Yeah obesity is an issue, you know what? Stop drinking soda and eating fast food, we’d see obesity rates plummet (of course we need to look into the reason so much is consumed). There’s 8 BILLION humans, no easy way out. For sure people use climate change for their own selfish ends and are making a lot of bad decisions, but what’s so hard to believe about 8 BILLION people affecting the earth and the atmosphere?
I’m thoroughly sick of both sides. But regardless, everyone should get to say their piece.
