But they *could,* of course, charge for it on Android, or bundle it into Apple One for Android users. I think its short-sighted not to do it because (1) it reduces switching costs for Android users to iPhone (you can bring all your messages!) and (2) it robs Google of valuable data. While their RCS messages are encrypted, metadata is not and metadata is v. valuable for ads.).
