An example of when knowing the empty weight of your container is useful.
I'm scaling the amount of levain made for the levain based bread because there is an appalling waste of flour in the amount in the recipe.
I decided to reduce the amount to a quarter of the recipe. That means I need 173g.
The container is 300g, the total weight is 502g so I have 202g of levain.
Just about spot on. And I'm now saving 300g of flour per bake!
